SONAR Fictions is a literary publication for slow attention.

The stories published here explore what lies just beneath the surface—geological, atmospheric, intimate, political—and trace its consequences without insisting on a moral. The prose is restrained, compressed. The structures are architectural. Nothing is explained when it can be shown.

SONAR Fictions is bilingual at its source. Every work appears here in English, while a companion publication, SONAR Fictions (French Edition), publishes the same stories in French. The two versions are not translations in the usual sense. They are co-original texts, written in tandem, each shaping the other.

Currently serializing: What We Were Hiding, a six-chapter novella set on the Canadian Prairies. A new chapter is published every Wednesday morning through August 2026. Free while the serial is running. Archived afterward.
